Localized heat:
If an area of the leg seems to radiate heat, even to the touch, it may be a sign that the blood is not circulating as it should.
Pain or tenderness to the touch:
A painful spot, like persistent muscle soreness, or discomfort that makes you limp? This unusual pain may indicate the presence of a blood clot.
Accelerated heart rate without effort
Does your heart race while you’re at rest? This is sometimes a sign that your body is fighting a clot that is disrupting blood circulation.
Unexplained fever and chills.
A slight feeling of heat, a mild fever that sets in? This could be your body’s reaction to a moving clot.
Visible and swollen veins:
Are your veins more visible and swollen, especially if you already have varicose veins? This is an indicator not to be ignored.
Intense fatigue
Unexplained exhaustion, even after a good night’s sleep? This could stem from the energy your body is using to fight a blood clot.
Fainting or dizziness
A sudden feeling of illness, unexplained vertigo… These symptoms may precede a pulmonary embolism and require urgent medical attention.
No visible signs.
And sometimes, nothing. No signs at all. That’s the trap. In nearly half of cases, DVT goes unnoticed until the clot causes a serious complication.
