A sudden, severe, unusual headache can sometimes happen with stroke or mini stroke symptoms. It may feel dramatically different from the person’s usual headaches or appear with dizziness, vomiting, confusion, weakness, or vision changes.

7. Confusion or Memory Problem
A mini stroke may briefly affect mental clarity. A senior may suddenly seem confused, have trouble understanding speech, forget simple information, become disoriented, or act unusually.
Because these symptoms can disappear quickly, families may mistake them for fatigue or age-related memory decline. But sudden confusion is different from gradual forgetfulness. The CDC lists sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech as stroke warning symptoms.
